Next generation firewalls – firewall technology was introduced many years ago to create a trust point or boundary to a network. With virtualisation and mobile computing no such boundary exists, at least in straightforward terms. A traditional firewall will manage access based on control over (TCP) port usage and protocols that are allowed to enter the network. All applications are not equal and some may be bad for you.
