Swindon Half Marathon. Time: 3hrs 9mins.

2004 - Fastest 10 mile road run carrying 120lb pack

London Marathon. Time: 6hrs 11mins.

Mike's plan was to break the 10km, 10 mile, half marathon and full marathon times, but this would be Mike's first look at not succeeding to break a World Record!

Mike reached just short of the half way stage of the marathon but had to pull out of the race and be taken away by ambulance after an injury on route caused Mike to have to stop.

Mike had passed the Cutty Sark and upon reaching the next drinks station onlookers were kicking empty water bottles about, unfortunately one of these got in the way of Mike and as he stepped on one these bottles Mike fell and hit the ground heavily under the weight of his 120lb (8 stone) pack.

Mike bravely carried on determined to complete the marathon course but the injury got too much!

Mike is now coming back to London in 2010 to break this record and complete the course with the support of the Army PTIs of the Royal Logistics Corps based near South Cearny.

2004 - Fastest 10km road run carrying 60lb pack

Capital FM 2004 10km fun run. Time: 1hr 1min.

WOW!!! What a hot day, I remember it was one of the hottest days of the year, the route was so open and exposed to the sun, not one part of the route was shaded!

But what a great race, so well organised and huge crowd watching the event around the course! The organisers were amazing and so accomodating, allowing me to prepare in the VIP tent and they also got me up on stage at the end of the event to congratulate me in front of the whole crowd and live on Capitol FM.

At the end Foxy even came over to me to congratulate me on my success!

Great day all round! That afternoon it was straight down to Covent Garden with friends to celebrate in the pub with OJ.

I need to go back, as this event is my favourite 10km ever!

I'd like to thank the residents of Wimbledon for your support!

2003 - Longest time spent continuously cycling

wimbledon_news_nov2003_smWimbledon Esporta 1 - 5 Nov 2003.

Spin bike marathon.

Time: 96hrs (with 15mins break every 8hrs).

This was by far to date the longstanding toughest challenge!

96 hrs cycling on a studio spin bike, by day 3 conversations with the support team and invidulators started tp repeat themselves, and daytime merged with nigh time. Also my legs started to suffer badly! Circulation to my legs were cut off due to the swelling of my legs and so I had to have the legs of my cycling shorts cut. My left leg suffered the most and I had to elivate it on the hanlebar for a few hours leaving me to cycle with only my right leg with my foot strapped into the pedal.

I swore never to do that again! but much like Steve Redgrave, I've changed my mind as someone else has broken my record.
